Learn how customers, products, prices, invoices, and subscriptions work together in Solidgate Billing to support one-time and recurring payment flows

Solidgate Billing handles all of it in one place. Build a product catalog with one-time and recurring offerings, set prices across currencies and regions, and let subscriptions manage the billing lifecycle automatically. Tax is calculated per customer location. Failed payments are retried on a schedule you configure. Saved payment methods let you charge returning customers without sending them back through checkout.

Billing 1.0 and Billing 2.0

Solidgate Billing is available in two versions. Billing 1.0 focuses on subscription lifecycle management. Billing 2.0 is recommended for new integrations and those looking to expand beyond subscription-only billing. It supports invoice-based billing with customers, payment instruments, and one-time purchases.

Billing 1.0 API v1

Automate recurring billing with configurable periods, trial offers, and plan changes. Failed payments are retried on a schedule you define, recovering revenue without manual follow-up. Tax is calculated automatically per customer location and applied to each renewal.

What is included

Catalog

Product catalog

Build your catalog by defining products and assigning tax categories. Configure prices per currency and region. Products and prices are reused across subscriptions and invoices.

Prices

Set the amount customers pay for each product. Configure prices per currency and region, define recurring amounts, and reuse the same price across subscriptions and invoices.

Coupons

Apply percentage or fixed-amount discounts to subscriptions and one-time invoices. Set redemption limits, usage duration, and expiration dates per coupon.

Billing lifecycle

Subscriptions

Subscriptions charge customers on a recurring schedule based on the product and price you configure. You control the full lifecycle, from trials and plan changes to pauses and cancellations, and receive webhook events at each stage.

Customers

A customer profile is the billing record for a person or organization. It holds the billing address, tax ID, and saved payment methods that Solidgate uses to calculate tax, issue invoices, and process recurring charges accurately.

Invoicing

Each invoice captures product, price, tax, and discounts for a charge against a customer. Pay it by charging a saved payment method on file, or send the customer a checkout link to complete payment themselves.

Automation

Tax calculation

VAT, GST, and sales tax are calculated automatically from the customer's address and tax registration status. Solidgate applies the correct rules per jurisdiction.

Revenue recovery

Failed subscription payments are retried automatically on a schedule you configure. Solidgate recovers revenue from temporary declines without manual follow-up.

Payment instruments

Saved payment methods are stored as tokenized payment instruments linked to a customer record. Use them for future charges, upsells, and repeat purchases.
